Many espresso machines have a separate preheating boiler tank with water temperature cycling between 60–95°C. Optical switches age rapidly under high heat, and float seals soften and deform from temperature, causing jamming.

The XKC-Y29A operates within -25~85°C and uses the capacitive principle with internal temperature compensation circuitry.
