Capsule machine water tanks typically range from 0.6–1.2 L, and the interior also houses the pump chamber and water inlet channel, leaving almost zero space for a float switch. Optical sensors have their lenses fogged by steam from capsule-piercing jets, and after six months they start falsely reading "full" and stop pumping.

Xingkechuang's non-contact solution uses a compact 20×12×4 mm probe that sticks to a recess on the tank. The capacitive principle only responds to dielectric changes — when water passes the line, capacitance jumps; steam condensation film contributes negligibly. The low-point probe mounts near the bottom for dry-boil protection, the high-point near the neck for full detection.
